Trip Itinerary

    Day 1: Depart USA for your overnight flight to Madrid, Spain. Dinner and breakfast will be served on board.

    Day 2: Upon arrival in Madrid you will be met by your tour guide and depart for Rabanal del Camino. Check into the hotel and have a free afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Rabanal del Camino.

    Day 3: After breakfast depart for Ponferrada. Today you will start the final 230 km of the Camino de Santiago by walking 32.5 km (20.3 Miles). You will pass through Manjarin, the highest point on the trail at 1515 meters above sea level, El Acebo, Riego de Ambros, and Molinaseca. Dinner and overnight in Ponferrada.

    Day 4: After breakfast depart for Villafranca del Bierzo. Today you will walk 23 km (14.3 Miles) and pass through Cacabelos. Dinner and overnight in Villafranca del Bierzo.

    Day 5: After breakfast depart for O Cebreiro. Today you will walk 30 km (18.75 Miles) and pass through Pereje, Trabadelo, La Portela de Valcarce, Vega de Valcarce, Ruitelan, and La Faba. Dinner and overnight in O Cebreiro.

    Day 6: After breakfast depart for Sarria. Today you will walk 36.5 km (22.8 Miles) and pass through Hospital de la Condesa, Fonfria, Triacastela, Samos, and Calvor. Sarria is the last point at which a pilgrim can start the journey and still complete the 100 km needed to claim the compostela. Dinner and overnight in Sarria.

    Day 7: After breakfast depart for Portomarin. Today will be the shortest day, walking 21 km (13.1 Miles) and passing through Barbadelo and Fereiros. Dinner and overnight in Portomarin.

    Day 8: After breakfast depart for Palas de Rei. Today you will walk 24.5 km (15.3 Miles) and pass through Gonzar, Ventas de Naro, and Ligonde. Dinner and overnight in Palas de Rei.

    Day 9: After breakfast depart for Arzua. Today you will walk 25.5 km (15.9 Miles) and pass through Casanova, Leboreiro, Melide, and Ribadiso da Baixo. Dinner and overnight in Arzua.

    Day 10: After breakfast depart for Santiago de Compostela. Today you will walk the final 36.5 km (22.8 Miles) and pass through Santa Irene, Arca do Pino, and Monte do Gozo. Upon arrival check into your hotel and the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Enjoy a stroll on own, though the beautiful streets of Santiago de Compostela, the city of the apostle, full of historical buildings and other attractions (before or after dinner). Dinner and overnight in Santiago de Compostela.

    Day 11: Visit Cathedral of St. James is one of the finest examples of architecture in all of Europe. As pilgrims, we have the opportunity to climb the stairs behind the high altar to visit the crypt where the relics of St. James are preserved, touch the central pillar (Portico de La Gloria), view the 'botafumeiro' and admire the wealth of medieval art inside the Cathedral. Attend the noon mass at the Cathedral. Then lunch on your own before boarding the bus for Madrid. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.

    Day 12: After breakfast, we will enjoy a tour of Madrid including the Prado Museum, Puerta de Alcala, Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. In the afternoon take a tour of the Cathedral. Dinner at a restaurant with a Flamenco show and overnight in Madrid.

    Day 13: In the morning we will enjoy an excursion to San Lorenzo de El Escorial and tour the Escorial Palace. After lunch return to Madrid for a free afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.

    Day 14: Depart for airport and your return flight home. Arrive U.S. same day.
