Trip Itinerary

 

  • Day 1:  Depart from USA. Dinner and breakfast served aboard flight.
  • Day 2: Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, a Proximo Travel representative will welcome and assist you at the airport.   If time permits, there will be a visit to Caesarea Maritima.  Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.
  • Day 3: Driving through the Jezreel Valley, we will visit Megiddo and continue to the fields of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16), continuing northward along the Mediterranean Sea to Haifa and Mt. Carmel ~ the biblical site of Elijah’s contest with the prophets of Baal (IKings:18).  Continue to Nazareth and visit the Church of the Annunciation, the Fountain of the Virgin and the Ancient Synagogue.  After spending some time in the Soug, proceed to the Sea of Galilee visiting the Wedding Church of Cana-in-Galilee en route.  Mass can be arranged on Mt. Carmel.  Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.
  • Day 4: Begin the day with a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee in a traditional wooden ‘Jesus Boat’.  Drive up to the Mount of Beatitudes and visit the Church which commemorates the famous Sermon on the Mount.  The morning ends with a visit to Capernaum which Jesus chose as the base for his Galilean Ministry.  In the afternoon, drive north to Upper Galilee and visit Tel Dan, one of the three sources of the Jordan River and Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus asked his disciples “Who do men say that I am?”  Continue north to view Mount Hermon and end the day with a drive around the lake back to Tiberias.  Mass can be arranged on Mt. Beatitudes.  Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.
  • Day 5: Transfer to Sheikh Hussein Border for crossing into Jordan.  Drive to Un Qais and visit the Biblical city of Gadara.  Continue to the Decapolis city of Jerash, the best preserved example of a Roman provincial city and walk through the forum, colonnaded streets, amphitheater, and Temple of Artemis.  The next stop is Amman for a view of the Ancient Citadel and the Roman Amphitheatre.  Dinner and overnight in Amman.
  • Day 6: Leave Amman and drive to Madaba to visit the sixth century mosaic map of Palestine in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George.  Continue to Mount Nebo, the presumed burial place of Moses.  Visit the church built by the Byzantine Christians and view the Holy Land from its front platform.  Drive to Kerak and visit its Crusader castle before continuing south to Petra.  Mass can be arranged on Mt. Nebo.  Dinner and overnight in Petra.
  • Day 7: Petra’s fame is well deserved and you will be struck by the scale of the site and the extraordinary beauty of the rock-cut tombs and temples.  At the time of Jesus, Petra was a magnificent Nabatean city of enormous wealth; which controlled much of the trade that passed through the region.  Enter Petra through the Siq on foot and then suddenly stand before the rock-cut Treasury, hewn out of the red sandstone.  Spend the entire day here and visit many of the breathtaking monuments, including some of the Royal Tombs.  Dinner and overnight in Petra.
  • Day 8: Transfer to Aqaba on the Red Sea and cross into Sinai by boat.  Drive to the village of St. Catherine where you will spend the night in St. Catherine’s village.  Dinner and overnight in Sinai.
  • Day 9: Early start, before dawn, to climb Mount Sinai under the dark desert night.  Watch the sunrise here on the site where Moses received the Ten Commandments.  Descend Mount Sinai and return to the hotel for breakfast.  Proceed to visit the Byzantine Monastery of St. Catherine with its beautiful icons.  Return to Taba Broder and cross into Israel.  Dinner and overnight in Ein Bokek near the Dead Sea.
  • Day 10: Drive to Massada, where you ascend and descend by cable car.  Visits here include the Northern Palace, Roman baths, the Ancient Church and Synagogue.  Continue to Ein Gedi and visit Qumran where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered.  Visit Jericho where you can view Mount Temptations.  Mass can be arranged in Jericho.  Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
  • Day 11: The day begins on top of the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the Old City and visits to the Chapel of the Ascension, Pater Noster Church, Dominus Flevit Chapel, Church of All Nations and the Garden of Gethsemane.  Continue to the House for the High Priest Caiaphas where St. Peter’s denial of Jesus is marked within the Church of St. Peter of Gallicantu.  In the afternoon, visit King David’s Tomb, Room of the Last Supper, Dormition Abbey on Mount Zion and the Pool of Siloam.  Mass can be arranged on Mount of Olives.  Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
  • Day 12: Drive to the Shepherds Fields where the day starts with a Mass or Eucharist in the Grotto. Continue to Bethlehem for visits around Manger Square.  Sites here include the Church of the Nativity, the Church of St. Catherine and St. Jerome’s caves.  In the afternoon, drive to the village of Ein Karem, birthplace of John the Baptist for visits of the Church of the Visitation and Church of St. John.  Continue to see the Model of Jerusalem during the Second Temple period at the time of Jesus.  Mass can be arranged on Mt. Nebo.  Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
  • Day 13: Enter the Old City through Dung Gate for visits of the Western Wall, El Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock.  Walk to the Pool of Bethesda in the grounds of the Crusader Church of St. Anne.  Follow the Way of the Cross along the Via Dolorosa in the streets and alleys of the Old City culminating in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.  In the afternoon, visit the Southern Wall Excavations (David Center).  Mass can be arranged in Jerusalem.  Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
  • Day 14: Visit the model of Jerusalem during the second temple period, the shrine of the book where the Dead Sea scrolls are kept.  Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for Departure.  Proximo Travel staff will be with you for assistance with check-in and security.
