Trip Itinerary ~ 15 Days
Day 1: Departure from USA to Milan.
Day 2: Arrival. Visit the Duomo and enjoy a free time to appreciate the "Manhattan of Europe" or "the leading fashion capitals of Europe". Dinner and overnight in Milan.
Day 3: Tour of Venice: an amazing city built on water. Leave for Venice in the morning on our private bus. Estimated time of arrival is 12:00 noon. Visit St. Mark's plaza. Optional: Gondola ride and shopping. Long pants if you intend to go inside St. Mark's. Casual dress if you intend to go on a Gondola ride or spend time shopping and visiting the beautiful streets and bridges of Venice. Dinner and overnight in Venice.
Day 4: Visit the Shrine of St. Anthony of Padua for Mass and time for prayer. Dinner and overnight in Florence.
Day 5: Tour of Florence in the region of Tuscany. Tour of the Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizzi, Michelangelo's masterpiece, The David, Flea Market, Duomo (Cathedral), and the Baptistery. Tour Guide will show to those interested the location of the Basilica of San Lorenzo and the Medici Chapel (where the Medici family was buried). Casual dress throughout the day. Enjoy a wine tasting and a dinner in rural Tuscany. Dinner and overnight in Florence.
Day 6: Tour of Siena. We will visit this beautiful medieval city with its center gathered within ancient walls which hold beautiful monuments and museums. We will also visit the Piazza del Campo, Palazzo Comunale and Torre del Mangia, and visit the Duomo which is a majestic example of Romanesque-Gothic Style. Proceed to Orvieto to visit the Eucharistic Miracle and the beautiful cathedral of Orvieto. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.
Day 7: Spend a full day in Assisi taking in the tranquility of the mountain village. We will see the tombs of St. Francis, St. Clare, and the body of Carlo Acutis. Enjoy the deep peace of Assisi. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.
Day 8: After breakfast, depart from Assisi. Our first stop is in Loreto where we will tour the Sanctuary and Holy House. After lunch we will go on to Lanciano where we will visit St Francis’ church and the Sanctuary of the Eucharistic Miracle. We will continue on to San Giovanni Rotondo. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.
Day 9: This morning we will tour San Giovanni Rotondo with visits to the old church, Santa Maria delle Grazie, the Friary of Padre Pio, his tomb, cell, confessional, and we end the morning with the new church, the Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church. After lunch we will visit the nearby Shrine of Monte Sant’Angelo, where St. Michael the Archangel appeared in 490, 492, and 1656. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.
Day 10: On the way to Sorrento, visit Positano in the Amalfi Coast. Dinner and overnight in Pompei.
Day 11: The Island of Capri is the greatest place for many people. Optional: visit the extraordinary beautiful Blue Grotto with its shining bottom, tour the Island, swim or go shopping. Casual Dress throughout the day. Dinner and overnight in Pompei.
Day 12: Visit the archeological city of Pompeii on your way to Rome. Visit the Basilica of St. Paul outside the Wall where the body of St. Paul is buried. It is the 2nd largest basilica in Rome and the 5th in the world. In the afternoon, we will be visiting St. Mary Major, the main Basilica dedicated to Mary in Rome. We will see the remains of Jesus' manger, the tomb of Bernini, the remains of St. Matthew the Evangelist, the tomb of St. Jerome, and the oldest icon in the world of the Virgin Mary painted by St. Luke: the famous Salus Populi Romani. Dinner and overnight in Rome.
Day 13: Start the day around 9:30 am, by visiting the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel (the Pope's private chapel). Proceed to St. Peter's in the Vatican, the largest Basilica in the world. Tour of the Colosseum from the outside and then St. John Lateran, the first Basilica ever to be built in the Roman Empire and the Cathedral of the Bishop of Rome, the Pope. Long pants, capris, or skirts below the knee will be required and shoulders covered. Dinner and overnight in Rome.
Day 14: We will have an early start as our private bus takes us to the Vatican to experience the Audience with the Pope. After lunch we will visit the Spanish Steps known for the area where the Romans gathered to meet followed by a walk to the Trevi Fountain. We will continue on from there to tour the Pantheon from the outside, the oldest functional building in the world. We will conclude by visiting the great artistic Piazza Navona, the elegant "living room" of Rome. Dinner and overnight in Rome.
Day 15: Fly back home.
