Trip Itinerary ~ 13 Days
Day 1: Fly from U.S.A. to Paris.
Day 2: Arrive at Paris CDG early. Set off directly for Normandy (c. 2 hrs). Visit to Rouen cathedral with Mass there or at another central church like St Joan of Arc (she was martyred in the market square in 1431). Then onward to hotel (2 hrs) for dinner and overnight in Caen.
Day 3: Leave (1 hr) for full day in Lisieux for places associated with St Thérѐse (Les Buissonets, Carmel a.m., Basilica p.m.) with lunch break and Mass. Return to same hotel.
Day 4: Private Mass at Visitation Convent, Caen, c. 10 a.m. and visit to tomb of Servant of God Leonie Martin, the only sister of St Thérѐse not to join the Carmelites. Walk to church of Saint Etienne and tomb of William the Conqueror. Lunch break. Continue (1 hr) to American cemetery, D Day visitor center and Omaha Beach. Leave by 4:30 to Mont Saint Michel for dinner and overnight (2 hrs).
Day 5: Morning at Mont St Michel, surrounded by the sea. Shuttle bus to gates, ascend (300 steps!) to abbey, tour including private Mass. Early lunch break. Shuttle back. Leave parking lot by 1 p.m. for Our Lady of Hope, Pontmain (I hr). Continue to Alencon (1 ½ hr) for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Private Mass at the chapel attached to the home of Sts Louis and Zelie Martin, St Thérѐse’s parents, tour of the house, walk to basilica where the Martins were married and Thérѐse was baptized. Leave c. 11:30 for Tours (2 hrs). Lunch stop. Brief visit to basilica of Saint Martin of Tours. Continue to Bourges (2 hrs) for dinner and overnight. Possible evening visit of Bourges cathedral.
Day 7: Leave Bourges for Nevers (1 hr). Mass and visit to the Sanctuary of St Bernadette. Lunch. Continue to Paray le Monial (1 ½ hr) to visit the basilica and the sanctuary of St Margaret Mary and the Sacred Heart. Continue to Villefranche-sur-Saone (just over 1 hr) for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Visit to basilica and house of St John Vianney. Pilgrims Mass at 11 a.m. in modern church. Continue (1 hr) for lunch and visit to basilica of Fourvière, Lyon. Take funicular to Rue St Jean and cathedral. Meet bus to return to Villefranche (1 hr) for dinner and second overnight.
Day 9: Leave c. 9:30 for church of St Philibert, Tournus (1 hr) (visit and possible private Mass). Continue to Beaune (1 hr) for lunch and shopping. Continue to Dijon (1 hr) on D974 Burgundy wine route for dinner and overnight. Alternative possibility of evening Mass at Dijon cathedral.
Day 10: Leave for Abbey of Saint Joesph at Flavigny-sur-Ozerain (1 hr). Brief tour, then join monks for Sung Mass at 11:10. Continue to Chablis (I hr) with lunch stop. Tour of one of the many vineyards/wineries. Continue by 4:30 to Paris (2 ½ hr) for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Mass at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal (St Catherine Labouré) or the nearby chapel where St Vincent de Paul is buried. See the beautiful sites of the Hotel des Invalides, the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe and the restored Notre Dame cathedral. Dinner and overnight in Paris.
Day 12: Visit the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa. After lunch, visit the basilica of Sacre Coeur(Mass) and see the artists along Montmartre. Mass at Sacre Coeur. Dinner and overnight in Paris.
Day 13: Fly back home.
