Trip Itinerary

    Day 1: Departure from USA.

Day 2: Morning arrival Lisbon. En route to Fatima, stop in Santarem, one of the oldest cities in the world. You will walk through the narrow streets to the Church of St. Stephen, containing the oldest recorded Eucharistic miracle. This miracle has been on display since 1247 AD. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.

Day 3: Start off the day by going to Mass at the Little Chapel of the Apparitions. You will see the Basilica, the site of Francesco and Jacinta's graves, the Hamlet of Aljustrel, where the children lived, and Valinhos, the site of Our Lady's appearance after the children's return from prison. Experience Christ's love as you walk and follow the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra (The Sacred Way) culminating in the Chapel of Calvary, which overlooks all of Fatima. Join pilgrims from around the world in an evening candlelight procession to pray the rosary for the sick and drink water from the miraculous well. Time for private devotions before dinner and overnight in Fatima.

Day 4: Early departure after breakfast, we set out to join the walking pilgrims at the Monte del Gozo from which the spires of the Cathedral are first visible. We will walk the last couple of miles of el Camino arriving at the Cathedral and attend the International Pilgrim Mass at the Cathedral of St. James, one of the finest examples of architecture in all of Europe. In the afternoon, we will visit the city of Santiago to see the Palaces of Fonseca and Gelmirez, Obradoiro Square and even Franco St. Dinner and overnight in Santiago de Compostela.

Day 5: After Mass in Santiago de Compostela, depart for Leon. Visit the Cathedral de Leon and the Casa Botines (an unusual work of Gaudi). Free time for shopping. Dinner and overnight in Leon.

Day 6: After morning Mass in Leon, depart for Madrid. Stop in Avila. Visit the walls of Avila and the Basilica de San Vicente. Visit the Monasterio de Santo Tomas which was built by Queen Isabella. Visit the Convent of San Jose. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.

Day 7: After morning Mass, we will enjoy a tour of Madrid including the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.

Day 8: Depart Madrid after Mass and head to Zaragoza. Early departure for Zaragoza where we will visit the magnificent Basilica del Pilar, built in the place where our Lady appeared to Saint James. Tradition says that in the early day of the Church, Saint James the Great was spreading the Gospel in Spain, but making very little progress. He was dejected and questioning his mission. About 44 AD, the Virgin Mary, who was still living in Jerusalem at the time, bi-located and appeared to him in a vision to boost his morale. In it, she was atop a column or pillar, which was being carried by angels. That pillar is believed to be the same one venerated inside the Basilica. We will also visit the Cathedral of Zaragoza and we will do a walking tour of the city. Dinner and overnight in Zaragoza.

Day 9: Depart Zaragoza for Lourdes. Attend the Candlelight Rosary Procession. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes.

Day 10: Daily Mass. This pilgrimage was designed for those who would like to spend more time in Lourdes, to pray and reflect. You will have time to pray with your fellow pilgrims and pilgrims from around the world, to attend Mass at the Grotto, watch a video presentation telling the story of Lourdes, and walk in the footsteps of St. Bernadette. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes.

Day 11: Departure from Toulouse back to the USA.
