Trip Itinerary

    Day 1 (Sept 8): Departure from USA. Dinner and Breakfast will be served in-flight.

    Day 2 (Sept 9): Arrive in Bari. Check-in hotel. Rest for a few hours. Mass at San Giovanni Rotondo. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.

    Day 3 (Sept 10): Early start for departure to San Giovanni in the region of Puglia. This is where the Franciscan Capuchin priest, Padre Pio da Pietralcina, who lived, labored, and in 1968 passed away. We celebrate Mass in the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie where Padre Pio lived and afterwards hear about his life and works from the Franciscan friars. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.

    Day 4 (Sept 11): After breakfast, visit the Cave of St. Michael followed by mass. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.

    Day 5 (Sept 12): Free day in San Giovanni Rotondo. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.

    Day 6 (Sept 13): Early start after breakfast for Assisi. See the tombs of St. Francis and St. Clare; enjoy a peaceful walk on the streets of Assisi. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.

    Day 7 (Sept 14): Free day in Assisi. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.

    Day 8 (Sept 15): Early start after breakfast for Siena. Visit this beautiful medieval city with its center gathered within ancient walls which hold beautiful monuments and museums. Visit the Piazza del Campo, Palazzo Comunale and Torre del Mangia. Visit the Duomo, which is a majestic example of Romanesque-Gothic style architecture. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.

    Day 9 (Sept 16): Early start for departure to Cascia. Stop and visit the Holy Face of Manoppello on the way to Cascia. Upon arrival in Cascia, we visit the Basilica church dedicated to St. Rita and the adjacent convent that has changed very little since the days of St. Rita. We visit all the important sites including the Chapel with St. Rita's incorrupt body, site of the Eucharistic miracle. Visit the beautiful medieval town of Norcia and the Church of St. Benedict. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.

    Day 10 (Sept 17): Free day in Assisi. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.

    Day 11 (Sept 18): Departure from Florence back to the USA

    Please note: We do our best to ensure that all sites listed in this itinerary will be seen. However, due to scheduling conflicts, or other circumstances beyond our control, sites may be visited on a different day than listed. If this happens it will also necessitate a change in the restaurant for dinner. However, we will never sacrifice the quality of the meal, all restaurants will meet Proximo Travel's very high standards. Since we have several different trip configurations touring at the same time, it is likely that groups on different tours will be combined when their itineraries overlap in certain areas.

General Trip Information
