Day 1: Departure from USA to Toulouse, France.
Day 2: Arrival to Lourdes. Check-in Hotel. Free afternoon in the beautiful Shrine of Lourdes located in the Pyrenees Mountains. Overnight in Lourdes.
Day 3: Lourdes for the whole day. Mass in Lourdes. This pilgrimage was designed for those who would like to spend more time in Lourdes, to pray and reflect. You will have time to pray with your fellow pilgrims and pilgrims from around the world, to attend Mass at the Grotto, watch a video presentation telling the story of Lourdes, and walk in the footsteps of St. Bernadette. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes.
Day 4: Tour of Loyola. Visit the Shrine and Basilica of Loyola that consists of a series of edifices built in Churrigueresque Baroque style around the birthplace of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. Dinner and overnight in Loyola.
Day 5: Tour of Bourgos. Visit the Catedral de Burgos: A UNESCO World Heritage Site; the Monasterio de Santa María la Real de Las Huelgas; the Burgos Castle; the Arco de Santa María and the Cartuja de Miraflores. Dinner and overnight in Burgos.
Day 6: Tour of León. Visit The Cathedral of León; Basilica di San Isidoro; The Casa Botines; The Real Colegiata de San Isidoro de León; Covento de San Marcos. Linger at the Plaza Mayor and Stroll the Charming Streets and Plazas of the Old Town. Dinner and overnight in León.
Day 7: After breakfast depart for Santiago de Compostela. Today you will walk the final 11.2 miles and pass through Monte do Gozo. Upon arrival check into your hotel and the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Enjoy a stroll on own, though the beautiful streets of Santiago de Compostela, the city of the apostle, full of historical buildings and other attractions (before or after dinner). Overnight in Santiago de Compostela.
Day 8: Visit Cathedral of St. James is one of the finest examples of architecture in all of Europe. As pilgrims, we have the opportunity to climb the stairs behind the high altar to visit the crypt where the relics of St. James are preserved, touch the central pillar (Portico de La Gloria), view the 'botafumeiro' and admire the wealth of medieval art inside the Cathedral. Attend the noon mass at the Cathedral. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Santiago de Compostela.
Day 9: Tour of Porto. Visit Torre dos Clérigos; Palácio da Bolsa; Ponte Dom Luís I; Igreja de São Francisco; Cais da Ribeira and the Sé (Cathedral). Dinner and overnight in Porto.
Day 10: On the way to Fatima visit Santarem, where one of the oldest cities in the world is located. We will walk through its narrow streets to the Church of St Stephen, containing the oldest recorded Eucharistic miracle. This miracle has been on continuous display since 1247. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.
Day 11: Full day in Fatima. Start off the day by going to Mass at the Little Chapel of the Apparitions. You will see the Basilica, the site of Francesco and Jacinta's graves, the Hamlet of Aljustrel, where the children lived, and Valinhos, the site of Our Lady's appearance after the children's return from prison. Experience Christ's love as you walk and follow the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra (The Sacred Way) culminating in the Chapel of Calvary, which overlooks all of Fatima. Join pilgrims from around the world in an evening candlelight procession to pray the rosary for the sick and drink water from the miraculous well. Time for private devotions before dinner and overnight in Fatima.
Day 12: Fly back home.
Please note: We do our best to ensure that all sites listed in this itinerary will be seen. However, due to scheduling conflicts, or other circumstances beyond our control, sites may be visited on a different day than listed. If this happens it will also necessitate a change in the restaurant for dinner. However, we will never sacrifice the quality of the meal, all restaurants will meet Proximo Travel's very high standards. Since we have several different trip configurations touring at the same time, it is likely that groups on different tours will be combined when their itineraries overlap in certain areas.
