Trip Itinerary ~ 7 Days
Day 1 — November 9 Today we depart Rome and journey into Umbria, first visiting the dramatic hilltop city of Orvieto, famous for its volcanic cliffs, underground wine caves, and magnificent cathedral. Later we continue to Assisi where we enjoy a hosted visit at a friend’s private wine shop in the heart of the medieval town. Food & Wine Experience: In Orvieto we enjoy a hands-on Umbrian cooking class with wine tasting featuring handmade pasta, truffle, olive oil, and regional wines. This evening in Assisi we enjoy a hosted tasting experience featuring Umbrian wines such as Sagrantino and Grechetto accompanied by regional cheeses, breads, olive oils, and local specialties.
Day 2 — November 10 This morning we depart Assisi and journey into Tuscany arriving in the historic city of Siena, one of Italy’s great medieval treasures famous for the Piazza del Campo and beautifully preserved streets. Food & Wine Experience: Today’s highlight is a hands-on Tuscan cooking class in the countryside near Siena where guests prepare regional dishes paired with carefully selected Tuscan wines. Guests may enjoy fresh pasta, seasonal vegetables, Tuscan meats, rustic breads, and traditional desserts.
Day 3 — November 11 Today we visit Castello di Fonterutoli, home of the historic Mazzei family wine estate whose winemaking tradition stretches back centuries. We later continue north through the Italian countryside toward the Veneto wine region. Food & Wine Experience: Guests enjoy a premium Chianti Classico tasting at Fonterutoli featuring elegant Tuscan wines known for structure, dark fruit, spice, and centuries of winemaking tradition.
Day 4 – November 12 Today we visit the Valpolicella wine region and Masi Winery, internationally known for preserving traditional Venetian winemaking methods and producing some of Italy’s finest Amarone wines. Later we travel north through the Alps into Switzerland and arrive in Lucerne. At Masi Winery guests enjoy guided Amarone tastings with regional food pairings. These wines are known for their richness, dark fruit flavors, spice, and velvety texture. This evening we enjoy a Swiss culinary dinner upon arrival in Lucerne.
Day 5 – November 13: Today we enjoy Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most picturesque lakeside cities, famous for its Chapel Bridge, mountain scenery, elegant boutiques, lakeside promenades, and charming old town. Food & Wine Experience: Guests enjoy time for shopping and lakeside exploration before participating in a Swiss wine and artisan chocolate tasting experience featuring Swiss wines and handcrafted chocolates paired with regional specialties and alpine flavors.
Day 6 – November 14: Today we continue exploring the beauty of Switzerland with a scenic Alpine experience which may include Mt. Pilatus, a Lake Lucerne cruise, scenic rail journeys, or visits to nearby Alpine villages. Food & Wine Experience: Throughout the day guests may enjoy traditional Swiss specialties including fondue, alpine cheeses, pastries, chocolates, cured meats, and regional wines while enjoying the beauty of the Swiss Alps.
Day 7 – November 15: This morning we transfer to Zurich Airport for our return flights home, bringing to a close our culinary and cultural journey through Italy and Switzerland. Food & Wine Experience: Breakfast at the hotel before departure.

- 4 or 5 star hotels in downtown areas.
- All breakfasts and all dinners. Wine included with all dinners.
- All tips to driver, hotel, and tour guide. If you feel that the tour guide did a great job, offering them extra tips is greatly appreciated.
- Guided tours and tour fees ~ Our tour guides are very caring, licensed, and well educated. Many of our guides have their PhDs.
- Luggage handling (1 suitcase and 1 carry-on per person).
- Single Supplement: If the passenger wants a guaranteed room of their own, they have to pay $700 for a single supplement. As long as the passenger is willing to room with someone and allows us to provide them with a roommate the single supplement does not apply.
- Remember: Our trips are not more expensive during high season ~ Passengers will never be expected to pay extra for anything while on the trip.

- Call us (855) 842-8001 or register online with a credit card and pay your $500 deposit per person to save your spot. The $500 deposit is part of the total price of the trip.
- A $1,000 Additional Deposit (AD) per person is due one month from the registration. The AD is paid ONLY in the form of check (personal, money order, or bank check).
- The balance is due 4 months before the trip departure date. The balance is paid ONLY in the form of check (personal, money order, or bank check).

Please note: We do our best to ensure that all sites listed in this itinerary will be seen. However, due to scheduling conflicts, or other circumstances beyond our control, sites may be visited on a different day than listed. If this happens it will also necessitate a change in the restaurant for dinner. However, we will never sacrifice the quality of the meal, all restaurants will meet Proximo Travel's very high standards. Since we have several different trip configurations touring at the same time, it is likely that groups on different tours will be combined when their itineraries overlap in certain areas.
